Biography of Bishop William B. Smith, Sr. Bishop, Dr. William B. Smith, Sr., is the Senior Pastor of The Sanctuary of Praise Church in Twinsburg, Ohio, an Ordained Bishop with the Shield of Faith Fellowship of Churches and the Midwest Regional Bishop of the Shield of Faith Fellowship of Churches International (SOFFC). He is married to his beautiful wife of over 35 years, Evangelist, Dr. Sherilyn M. Smith. They have been blessed to have 3 children, LaTonya (Alex) James, Will II (Samon), and Brandon, and 5 awesome grandchildren. In January 1972, while stationed in West Germany, Bishop Smith was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost with fire.  Upon returning to Akron, Ohio, Bishop Smith accepted God's call to minister, and flourished under the pastorate of the late Dr. James L. Gregory at the Livingstone Apostolic Church.  In March of 1983, Bishop Smith was appointed the Pastor of the Apostolic Church of Christ; a small white block church in Twinsburg, Ohio. As the Lord added souls and the church began to outgrow the small edifice, there became an increasing need for a larger facility.  Led by this visionary man of God, ground was broken for a new edifice April 1993; The Sanctuary of Praise, Inc. was completed in July 1994, and in 2004 Phase II was completed adding classrooms, offices, and a new Fellowship Hall.  God's truth yet marches on! Over the twenty five plus years of shepherding the flock of God, Bishop Smith has served in numerous capacities including: • Member of the Twinsburg Ministerial Alliance • Member of the Twinsburg Township Ministry Association • Member of the original board for Loving Arms - Battered Women Assistance Program • Founder of Operation Joseph - A Ghana Outreach Program • Founder of Joseph's Kitchen Food Pantry and Touch of Love Free Community Meals • Chaplain for Shaker Gardens Assisted Living and Nursing Facility • Certified Career Counselor & Behavioral Analyst & Marriage Counselor • Certified Therapon Counselor • Former Board Member for the Akron Christian Schools • Former Vice Chairman of Religious Involvement of Summit County Children's Services Board In addition to pastoring, Bishop Smith and Dr. Smith established Essential Business Services, an independent client based Corporation specializing in Accounting and Budget Counseling for churches, small businesses and individuals. Bishop has also authored 3 books and Sunday School literature, "But This is That", "Altar War I", "Altar War II" and "The New Members Course". By the grace of God, Bishop, Dr. William B. Smith Sr. currently holds degrees in Computer Programming, Business Administration, and a Doctorate in Divinity.
